Believe it or not that statement is actually true. I’m not the vocalist on all my projects. So I only got a little time to play around with this plugin. And only the neve 1073 and the uad tube preamp to compare it to. So from the start it’s had it’s work cut out. I did try to drive it hard. But I didn’t seem to be able to achieve that. This is definitely a plugin I’m going to have to get used to then resubmit a review.

Surprising
I can only speak from a VO perspective but punching in and out between the hardware and this plug is ridiculous close. Would a seasoned producer on the other end of a VO session notice a difference if they were expecting the hardware preamp? Nope. Not even once. It reacts with such a tactile, analogue fee, there is no reason to keep the hardware, in my humble opinion.

A Masterpiece!
This is the one plugin I’ve always wanted, dreamed of, sought after, asked for and UAD delivered and DELIVERED BIG TIME. This is channel strip vocal porn! Silky smooth, perfect for vocals, and the EQ is just absolutely sexy especially the top end. This is my new go to. My vocal collection is now complete! I’m doing an entire album with this beauty.

AVALON Vt 737 MIX Magic!!!
Have had the original AVALON with the purple knobs since it's inception. Added new JJ Gold tubes and it sounds better than brand new. Kept asking UAD for this model and it's excellent!! Recorded the same song twice once using all analog pre amp's. Once in the box ( on Mac ) using Unison. Very small differences , I love the amount of instances for the mix. Many discerning ears could not differentiate the two mixes. Thanks a real keeper in the UAD arsenal. The presets are another add on for me I always just used my ears , but then I rode Dinosaurs to school . lol
