SSL Bus Compressor EmulationEmbarking on a ground-up re-design of the original SSL G Bus Compressor plug-in, UA’s team of engineers meticulously remodeled every nuance of the in-console and FX G384 rackmount specimens, including their unique CV (control voltage) summing. By capturing all of its circuit behaviors, the new SSL G Bus Compressor plug-in gives you all of the famed SSL hallmarks — punchy, transparent glue, and an ultra-accurate stereo image.
Original Recipe
From subtle and transparent dynamic control to more aggressive textures with peak limiting, the SSL G Bus Compressor plug-in’s simple, intuitive control set lets you quickly dial in what you need. The fixed Attack and Release controls are SSL-voiced for bus functionality, including the program-dependent Auto Release function. Conjure "barely a wiggle" 2-bus glue, or "bury the needle" full dynamic crush with the continuous Threshold control.
Custom Enhancements
New workflow features make the SSL G Bus Compressor Collection even more vital for the modern producer/engineer. The internal Side Chain Filter allows you precise tailoring of low frequency response to reduce low-end “pumping,” while the Mix control provides inline dry/wet processing — perfect for quick parallel compression on a drum or vocal bus. The Headroom control lets you adjust the overall operating level of the plug‑in.

Very successful compressor!
I acquired this UAD SSL compressor to the SSL channel strip that I often use in LUNA. The SSL Chanelstrip sounds very transparent and detailed. It is not recommended if you prefer strong saturation and coloring. Acoustic instruments, classical ensemble or jazz ensembles sound excellent via this channel strip: very detailed, finely dynamic, transparent and with a certain pleasant warmth that is rather subtle. The color of the instruments is displayed finely nuanced. The UAD SSL compressor compresses very finely, inconspicuously and is highly recommended on the stereo sum when using the SSL channel strip!

4k most to be included
I wanted to buy the 4k bus compressor thinking that it was included in the collection. I made that buying by mistake. The ssl G sound good but no how 4k sounds. O wrote back to the uad team but no one told me anything regarding it.

Compress with Less
Very nice plugin and make an excellent finisher! When you put this at the end of the chain, it gives you that consistency compression without over doing it.
