Smooth and Simple!
I wasn't in the market for UAD plugins (mostly I consider them to be out of my price range right now), but they gave away one of their LA-2A plugins, and I fell in love with it right away. Unlike most of the other compressors I had (including another LA-2A emulation), it just felt like it was impossible to push it too hard - the more I pushed it, the better it sounded.
I considered the UAD Essentials to be out of my price range so I dismissed the idea of getting it, but I was also aware that the Essentials had not just the LA-2A collection, but also their Pultec collection. As soon as the Essentials went on sale (my rule of thumb is patience: if you're willing to wait, you can get a MUCH better price) I snagged them.
When it comes to the LA-2A plugins, I'm still learning the circumstances under which each one sounds best (I'm a slow learner), but the controls are SIMPLE, which helps me learn, and the results are SMOOTH. My vocals have never sounded so good.
The rest of the collection is great, too. I love the Century Tube Channel Strip which is also SIMPLE and SMOOTH. Almost everything in this collection (except PolyMax, which I haven't played with yet) is showing up in all of my mixes.

Surprisingly useful, particularly the PolyMAX and the Galaxy
Like most people (I suspect), I bought this for the LA-2A and the Pultec collections. Both of these are good and they are fairly light on CPU usage, so great for ITB mixing. There's no way I'd pay full price for these (as I have hardware versions of both that I use for tracking), so the sale price was welcome.
The surprise is how useful the Galaxy and PolyMAX are. The Galaxy is great for my hardware synths and does a good job keeping things sounding fairly "analogue". The PolyMAX is fun. It fits in the Jupiter/Juno family to my ears, and is easily tweakable, but beware: it is a resource-hungry pig; plan to track with it rather than throw it on MIDI clips.
The one complaint -- and this is why I knock off a star -- is that you have to be connected to the internet to use the native versions. I generally turn off my network connection while recording, but that disables these plugins after a short time. So, every few hours, I need to reconnect and refresh everything in UA connect.

Ayant pu profiter de deux offres coup sur coup pour m'offrir onze plugins natifs de la marque pour un total de 116€ (!!!) , même si néophyte en MAO , je constate une vraie différence par rapport à la majorité des autres plugins dont je dispose (Waves, IKMultimédia , Focuscrite,..) .
La première qui saute aux oreilles , c'est la chaleur , la présence qui s'opère dés qu'on enclenche le plugin , notamment pour les préamps ce qui signe la fin de mon Art MPA Gold . Les presets me servent de base de départ et là apparait ce qui me semble être leur qualité principale , c'est l'efficacité des contrôles , j'entends ce que je fais et pour moi , une fois encore néophyte , entendre c'est la première condition pour comprendre et mieux agir sur le son . Tous ces plugins sont évidemment dans mes favoris .
Encore une fois , c'est le témoignage d'un débutant ( de 63 ans...) qui aurait très bien pu se résumer à ceci:
" WHAOUUU !!! "

"Oxide" your tracks!
I never expected that this type of tape saturation would give so much character, quality and also presence to the instruments respectively and clearly depending on how it was recorded and what is used.
With a few movements and depending on the results it shows, it is perfect to give it that "Presence" that we all seek quickly and to be as neutral as possible, although the latter one must "witness" it properly to understand it, at least in my opinion.
Without a doubt a necessary Plugin for any studio.

¿Need Power? Take it, Don't Worry.
Pultec, what you need to give it that character, precision and other functionalities, respectively.
Fully recommended for mastering, especially the "EQP", I don't really know what it has but it is very precise for what you use it for in mastering.

WOW!! just wow!!!!
I'm not a guy that writes reviews, and don't get me wrong I love my other UAD plug-ins... Wasnt really expecting much from this plugin which came bundled with others I wanted. But to my surprise it is amazing, the clear vintage sound, the simplicity and great presets, make this a must! Thanks, UAD!!!!

Essentially, Essential...
This is a fantastic collection of real-time plug-ins. I have not yet used all of them, for example the space echo will probably be used in a song I'm currently working on, and it will be perfect! However the included preamps and EQs are invaluable, and I love that I can monitor in one, record dry, sample it in another, then decide which one works better. Or that I can monitor and record at the same time with the plug-in that feels right.
I definitely feel I have what I need, but I know if I need a particular sound, I'll feel comfortable purchasing new plug-ins because these are so well designed.
